A message from the Milton School Committee
Over the past several years, the Milton School Committee has explored how we can make our district calendar inclusive and more representative of our diverse community. We revised our calendar policy in 2022 to ensure that students celebrating holidays not acknowledged with an official day off would receive necessary accommodations. We are in the process of reviewing our calendar and need your input. We are gathering community input through a survey, a series of open conversations taking place in schools and the November 20 School Committee meeting. We hope all will share their thoughts in one of those ways.
The survey can be found here: https://forms.gle/RmLtV4T6xaFx3k658

Pierce Volleyball - Staff vs. Students
The Volleyball Team recently took on the Pierce Staff in their annual game. After a hard fought game, the staff pulled it off with a win!

Once Upon a Mattress is almost here! ! A hilarious take on “The Princess and the Pea,” Once Upon A Mattress sets an unapologetic free spirit loose in a repressed kingdom, reveling in Winnifred's ability to charm and transform with willpower, honesty, and a little bit of help from her friends.
Don't miss out on seeing our talented MHS Theatre students during four (sure to be sell out) shows on Thursday, November 21st 7pm; Saturday, November 23rd at 2pm and 7pm and Sunday, November 24th at 2pm.

Last week, our 6th graders traveled to the Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary in Sharon where they participated in a guided hike to observe geological features and processes. In addition to the connections to our science curriculum, the field trip was fun - providing many opportunities for students to bond through team building activities!
Due to the generosity of the Milton Foundation for Education and the Pierce PTO, there was no cost to students to attend the trip. The MFE donated the funding for every student to participate in the experience at Moose Hill and the PTO covered the transportation expenses.
We are incredibly grateful to the MFE and Pierce PTO for their support in providing fun and enriching experiences for our students!

Our MHS students have been on the move with recent field trips to Harvard, MIT, the Museum of Scientific Instruments, an HBCU College Fair, Hancock Hill and NYC for a Broadway Show!
These trips simply would not happen without the creativity and dedication of the MHS staff. These trips take work - planning, driving, securing funding, giving time up out of school - and our MHS staff figures it out and makes it happen!

It's time to shop for our schools!

Our 8th graders held an "Election Celebration" last week! Almost 100 students decorated their Civics classrooms and then attended a pizza party in the cafeteria. These 8th graders say - it's time to vote!

The Monster Dash is here! Join the fun on Sunday, October 27 at Cunningham Park!

Our 7th graders are learning about seasonal changes on Earth. As part of the curriculum, the 7th grade science team created a modeling seasons activity. And to make it even more exciting, they use black out curtains and flashlights to help them really understand this big concept. Check out Ms. Mitchell's 7th graders in action!

Milton is holding two Flu Clinics on 10/16 and 10/17. There is also a school wide clinic for students on 10/24 at Pierce from 4pm-6pm.
All details can be found on the Town of Milton website: www.townofmilton.org

Come check out the new Fire Station at the MFD Open House this weekend!
October 19, 12-2pm , behind Town Hall.

Congratulations to Peter Cichello, Izzy D’Amato, August Tran, Giac Tran, and Bennett Wu who represented Pierce at the first Model UN Conference of the year at Suffolk University Law School. They successfully debated the topic of Protecting Refugee Children with other middle school students from the perspectives of Australia, Greece, and Pakistan. We’re looking forward to the next conference on November 16th at Northeastern University!

Saying thank you to all of our MPS custodians today for National Custodians Day! Pumpkin themed for Pierce!
