This fall, Milton will be adopting the new IEP as required by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). This is the first update to the IEP document since 2001. The district has prepared for this adoption since early last year, including participating in DESE offered trainings, facilitating training and support to building leadership, team chairs, special and general educators, district-wide leadership, and parents. The Student Services department will be offering another training to families in the coming weeks and we are looking forward to navigating this new IEP collaboratively.
In addition, the district has moved from Frontline to the PowerSchool Special Programs platform. The PowerSchool platform allows us to more succinctly maintain special education and 504 documentation, thus creating cohesion around student information. It will also provide more streamlined access to pertinent information for students' Team members.
You can find examples of the new IEP as well as other relevant documents on the DESE website linked here. Additionally, please find the Parent's Notice of Procedural Safeguards at this link.
